Brentford CLC Showcase: Film

Digital Film is a great way for students to engage with a wide-range of curriculum areas, not just Media Studies.

The CLC can take students (and teachers!) from the basics of camera work to storyboarding ideas right through to video editing and burning their finished films on to DVD. As well as working with a range of Media departments, we have recently worked with English departments, History departments and primary schools to help them produce films which can tie in with their studies.

We also encourage students to produce films which are not directly related to their studies, through the ‘Brentford Oscars’, a film and photography competition culminating in a celebration of achievement at a local hotel.

We are currently showcasing the following short films:

The Green School - "Freddie and Charlotte"
One of 2006’s Oscar Entries, combining an imaginative use of animation and a range of shooting techniques to produce an entry for the 2006 Oscars’ brief ‘Identity’.

BTEC First Certificate in Media
Brentford CLC has been working with a group of students on the BTEC in Media. This is a sample of some of the work they have produced as part of this course covering both film and documentary.

The Green School - "Literacy"
As part of a year 6 – 7 transition project, some Green School students wrote their own version of the ‘Imagine’ poem, created their own drawings to illustrate the poem and then used iStop Motion to animate it. They then used Garageband to record the voice-overs of each group reading the poem. The animation and voice-over when then combined in iMovie.
